  1992年，班清（又译半羌）考古遗址（Ban Chiang Archaeological Site）评为世界文化遗产。 世界遗产委员会评价： 班清被视为迄今为止在东南亚发现的最重要的史前聚居地，它标志着人类文化、社会和技术发展过程中的一个重要的阶段。该遗址发掘出来的葬物证实该地区曾有过农业耕作、制造和使用金属的活动，是迄今为止所能提供的最早的此类证明。 Ban Chiang is considered the most important prehistoric settlement so far discovered in South-East Asia. It marks an important stage in human cultural, social and technological evolution. The site presents the earliest evidence of farming in the region and of the manufacture and use of metals.
