We woke up the next day to a great view outside our window. We can see the sea clearly from our window. A short one minute walk and we are out on the beach. The view is breathtaking and I feel like I am in heaven. Different from all the tourist buzz in Cancun, PDC provides a more relaxed and authentic experience for the travelers.
March 6: Arrive at Cancun Intl Airport, go straight back to playa del carmen
March 7: Woke up to the most amazing view, chilled on the beach, eat seafood. booked tours and car. Xplor at night. They took pictures of you when you are doing all the extreme actives and you can buy them in the end.March 8: Coba pyramid + Xtreme Woke up at 7:00am. Gathering at 9:00am near our houseXtreme: Motorcycle--> Rappelling ---> Zip-line--> tamascal ( the Mexican style sauna)---> cenotes snorkeling . they also took photos of you and send you a disc.Coba: The only pyramid that allowed tourists to climb on top of it. The view is spectacular. But be careful because accidents had happened.
At night, we went clubbing after a tiresome day. Walked back home through the beach.March 9: CozumelWe caught the afternoon ferry after enjoying cocktail drink on the beach.Rented a really old convertibleBooked the Scuba diving trip for the next day.We got a good deal from Booking.com and booked the Secret resort. (adult only). Everything is included in the room charge. We had a fancy candle-lit dinner at the resort and head for the downtown area of Cozumel. We were looking desperately for a place to smoke Hookah, but the island is so quiet that only a few bars were open. We ended up having some tortillas and tacos at the plaza and danced for a little bit.March 10: CozumelBreakfast room service--- have it on the balconyScuba diving experience: 45 min video and then straight to Scuba Diving.Went back to PlayaTook the late night bus to Valladolid. Sleep at Valladolid. We also used Airbnb to book a local Villa, which has a pool and everything, apparently too big for the two of us. Our host and hostess is a couple who runs a local travel agency from which we booked our trips for the next two days. It is so much better than we going and exploring by ourselves and absolutely better than the big bus tour from Cancun. ( no offense and if you don't want to travel to Valladolid, that's fine) We traveled here because there are about hundreds of cenotes around here. The town's has a lot of Spanish colonial style buildings, it almost look like a mini version of Merida, which is a really beautiful city on the Northeast of Yucatan Peninsula.March 11: Valladolid
Chichen-Itza today along with two cenotes.Chichen-Itza: approx 3 hours. Took jumping photos in front of that iconic pyramid.First Cenote: Small one with a full exposed top. There is a swing on top of the pond so that you can dive right in. Locals love this place. Beautiful. Claire and I jumped in again and again.
Second Cenote: this one is a enclosed cenote. Our guide told us about this because this is one of his personal favorite. Our guide took us to the local restaurant that served the best Mexican cuisine we have ever had. I have no idea they have so many different names for tortillas and tacos. The soup is super great and of course the mexican Coke lol.March 12: Valladolid--> Tulum (great fun at the beach)---> night dining at Playa---> Hookah Dedicated all day to cenote. Went to four of them.Had breakfast at a local food truck, really really good. The tortillas are so good that we asked for more早餐车:
First: really large with small exposed area on the top. A lot of bird is swirling on top of the Cenote because it was really early. They even have a theme park built for this. FB photo with great hair here wink wink (cuz my hair got wet very soon after this)
Second and third: It is located in a remote location near a local town. There are two cenotes in this location. One is really big with turquoise water, standard. The other one is so special that we have to climb down a swirling stairs to go down to the cenotes. This is is a MUST SEE in my opinion because this Cenote is so special and beautiful. They even have a float for people who would like to float around this cenote. Incredible.Cacao: we also went to local store to buy cacao. We weren't able to catch the early bus back to Tulum /Playa del Carmen because we were busy visiting the cenote around the area. We choose the more traditional/ Mexican flair way of travel by sharing a car back to Tulum with a local guy. The car was really old fashioned and they played old songs along the way. We felt as if we were characters in a Mexican movie.Tulum: is breathtaking. It is the last group of ruins before the Mayan Empire retreat to Cozumel. A great place to spend the afternoon and playing at the beach. Lot more tourist here. The entire park is beautiful. The cliff overlooking the ruins is unbelievably beautiful. FB profile worthy pics taken.
Playa del Carmen: celebrated claire's birthday when we got back. Dined at a really fancy restaurant and then we went straight ahead for the hookah bar. Got ourselves indulged with tropical drinks and hookah.Go back to Cancun Airport
