The Kandalaksha Aluminium Smelter, commissioned in 1951, is the northernmost aluminium smelter in Russia.
Its main products are primary aluminium ingots, aluminium wire rod and billets.
The plant's annual production capacity is 76,000 tonnes of aluminium. Energy for the smelter is supplied by Kolskaya Nuclear Power Plant and the NIVA-3 hydropower plant. The smelter currently employs about 900 people.
