The church dates back 800 years. In 1214, a priest built a chapel here out of piety. In 1524, in order to strengthen the defense of Marseilles, French king Francois I ordered a fortress to be built here, along with the fortress on the island of if. Now the base of the cathedral is the original fortress.

Tips
Pay attention not to wear suspender vest and shorts when entering the church. The candles in the church are usually one euro each, which can be taken by oneself after the coin is put in. This magnificent new Byzantine church is the highest building in the city, perched on the top of the mountain. There are two free parking lots: 1. Longitude and latitude: 43.2846613, 5.3718573, 2. Here you can have a 360 degree view of the whole city of Marseille and the old port wharf, especially the famous island of ive. Eve island is the smallest island in Marseille. Alexandre Dumas, a French writer in the 19th century, took the castle as one of the backgrounds in his novel the story of love and hatred in Kido mountain (1844-1845), which made it famous. The temple sheltered the early Masai fishermen who were mainly fishing boats. Many ship models were hung in the temple. The ceiling was painted with brilliant murals of gold coins. Marseille's friends recommend top 1 places to visit. The decoration of the church is simple but aesthetic. On the top of the steeple is a little golden man. On the platform, you can have a panoramic view of Marseilles - the dense red tile houses, the ferris wheel in the center of the city, the old port, and the defensive wall are all in the eye. The church is on the high ground. Even in winter, the footpath up and down the mountain is also covered with green trees. All in all, this is a good place to relax and walk.

The interior and exterior of the church are very beautiful, and it's in Byzantine style, which is different from the Gothic Church usually seen in Europe. The church is located at the top of the mountain, overlooking the whole city of Marseille and the Mediterranean Sea in good weather, with beautiful scenery.

Monday, the museum is not open. There's a beautiful platform in the terminal 60. It's also a good place to see the panorama of Marseille. You can see the church everywhere in Marseille
