来到苏格兰总是想起《猜火车》，颓败、阴暗。来到乔治广场已是晚间，次日经过这里又是阴天。感觉没啥亮点。

格拉斯哥虽然是苏格兰第一大城市，但城市其实并不算大，老城区以圣乔治广场为中心，市政厅、中央火车站、皇后大道围绕在四周；在城市的西边则是著名圣芒戈教堂，也就是常说的格拉斯哥大教堂。
Info
George Square is the most important square in Glasgow, named after King George III of England. It was built in Victorian period. There are many famous statues of Glasgow and Scotland standing on the square, such as Robert Burns, Scotland's favorite poet, and James Watt, who invented the steam engine. In the center of the square is a monument to the Scottish writer Sir Walter Scott, the first British statue of Scott. Walking on George Square, the scenery is quite different on all sides. To the East is Glasgow municipal hall, to the north is Queen Street railway station, and to the west is Queen Street street. The buildings are all Victorian, so they also appear in many movies, such as Brad Pitt's World War Z. Near Christmas, George Square will become a public skating rink.

我们来到乔治广场George square。广场建于1781年，正值乔治三世在位期间，所以以乔治王的名字命名该广场。广场的东侧是格拉斯哥市政厅，一座意大利文艺复兴风格的建筑。市政厅前有一座无名烈士纪念碑，用白色石头做成，纪念在两次世界大战中死去的格拉斯哥人。碑上刻有一把金色的剑，和一句话：他们的名字将永存（Their name liveth for evermore）。

乔治广场位于格拉斯哥市中心，是格拉斯哥的标志之一。2011年，布拉德皮特拍摄“WorldWarZ”的外景地也选择了这里。广场四周的建筑都充满了维多利亚时代的气息。图二白色这座建筑物便是格拉斯哥市政大厅，意大利文艺复兴的风格，在1888年修建完成，整个大楼都堪称维多利亚建筑的经典。大理石和纯白雪花石做的阶梯，精致的拱顶，到处都能显示格拉斯哥作为一个工业城市在当时工业革命时代所能够彰显的魅力。据说在修建时，使用了一千万块砖、九千九百立方米的石块以及五百三十七立方米的花岗岩。

格拉斯哥，做功课时还颇感陌生，去了则倍感亲切。在乔治广场参观了美仑美奂的市政厅。在小山坡上观赏了格拉斯哥大教堂。格拉斯哥大教堂是苏格兰唯一保存其原貌至今的中世纪哥特式教堂，其他的哥特式教堂大多在宗教改革期间被破坏了。这座教堂兴建于公元1136年，如今依然在修建中。巴塞罗那修了100多年还在修的圣家堂跟它比起来就小巫见大巫了。
