花坪国家级自然保护区位于桂林市龙胜、临桂两县交界处，在八十公里天平山的主峰蔚青岭周围，以珍稀孑遗树种银杉和其它珍稀濒危野生动植物资源及典型常绿阔叶林带森林生态系统为主要保护对象，属于森林生态系统类型的自然保护区。

Huaping National Nature Reserve is located at the junction of Longsheng and Lingui counties in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and its predecessor is Guangfu forest area in Guilin. Approved by the State Council in 1978 as a National Nature Reserve, it is also the first nature reserve established in China, with a total area of 15133.33 hectares. Taking the rare relict tree species Cathaya argyrophylla, other rare and endangered wild animal and plant resources and typical evergreen broad-leaved forest ecosystem as the main protected objects, it belongs to the nature reserve of forest ecosystem type. Yinshan, discovered and collected by Professor Zhong Jixin, deputy director of Guangxi Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, at the foot of Hongyan mountain in Huaping on May 16, 1955, was identified and named by famous Chinese plant taxonomists Chen Huanyong and Kuang Keran. Because of the discovery of Yinshan, Huaping National Nature Reserve is called "Huaping in China, Yinshan in the world"
