Basilique Saint-Remi

Before being smashed to pieces, the oil bottles were stored in the Church of Saint Remy on the south side of the old city of Reims, another world cultural heritage site in Reims. As the name suggests, Saint Remy's church is to commemorate the Archbishop of Saint Remy. In 496 A.D., he held a baptism ceremony for Clovis, the king of the barbarians who came to France, accompanied by another 3000 barbarian soldiers. This marks that Western Europe has since been incorporated into the Roman public ideology system. 500 years later, in 988, the Great Duke of Vladimir of Russia converted to the orthodox church by the Dnieper River, and all the citizens of Kiev rose were baptized and converted together in the river. When the king's coronation was held in the era of French monarchy, it is said that the oil bottle used by Archbishop St. Remy would be invited out of St. Remy's church and transported to Reims Cathedral along the avenue. This is also the most important prelude to the coronation, such as the historical reappearance of Clovis baptism. The architecture of St. Remy's Church embodies the style of transition from Roman style in the 11th century to Gothic style in the 12th century. The 96 candles on the chandelier symbolize that Archbishop Remy, the greatest bishop in French history, has lived for 96 years, while the Archbishop's own cemetery was rebuilt in the 17th century, so it has a vivid, delicate and slightly abrupt baroque style. Although the number of figures in St. Remi's church is small, they are the best figures I have seen in many churches in France. Basically, they are all around the baptism of Clovis by St. Remi.
