Isolated in the sea at high tide, you can walk up the reef at low tide. The so-called fortress is really easy to defend and hard to attack if someone is stationed in it.

位于格兰德岛（Island of Grand Bé）旁边的佩蒂特要塞建于1689年。法国政府为了保卫圣马洛免遭英国和荷兰舰队的攻击，修建了好些防御工事，除了城墙外，在海面上还修建几个要塞，包括Fort National（国家要塞）, Fort Harbourg, Fort de la Conchée, and the forts of Cézembre and Pointe de la Varde等等，佩蒂特要塞也是其中一个。
