The majestic and elegant Colosseum is one of the main Roman monuments of [Nimes] (http://place.qyer.com/nimes/). Built in the 1st century A.D., the arena was originally used as an arena and has now become a theatre. It is 21 meters high, with 2400 seats and 60 arches at the top visible from the outside. It was once used as a military fortress by the Goethe in the 5th century A.D. The whole site is 131 meters long from east to west and 100 meters long from north to south. Sitting on the top floor of the arena, you can have a panoramic view of NIM city. Next to the arena is Freedom Square, which is very large, opposite Nim railway station.

Opening hours: It is open throughout the year, 9:30-17:00 in January, February, November and December, 9:00-18:00 in March and October, 9:00-18:30 in April, may and September, 9:00-19:00 in June, 9:00-20:00 in July and August.

古罗马统治范围内的竞技场不是都是斗兽场，我去过的法国阿尔勒竞技场只是徒手格斗和战车比赛。法国尼姆竞技场、意大利的维罗纳竞技场和克罗地亚的普拉竞技场据说是有斗兽。可惜这次马上去的巴尔干之旅没有参观它的计划。

If the Colosseum is a lady of the house, then Nim arena is a jasper of the house. However, Nim's popularity is really far from good. There were not many visitors in the whole arena on the day I went, so it seems very empty. But maybe it's because of this kind of emptiness compared with the scenes that happened on the arena many years ago that people feel more desolate
