There are many fortresses, but it's hard to tell which is which. When the tide is high, the fortresses are isolated in the sea. But when the tide is low, there will be a path connecting the city and the fortresses. Tourists can go to visit the fortresses closely. At the same time, it is also a good perspective to look back at the old city of San Marlowe.

Conchée要塞位于圣马洛西北方向四公里处的Quincé岩石岛上，Conchée要塞占据了整个Quincé小岛。当年，法国政府为了保卫圣马洛免遭英国和荷兰舰队的攻击，修建了好些防御工事，除了城墙外，在海面上还修建几个要塞，包括Fort National（国家要塞）, 佩蒂特要塞、Fort Harbourg, Fort de la Conchée, and the forts of Cézembre and Pointe de la Varde等等。
