巴斯修道院始建于公元8世纪，1499年由当时的奥利弗主教重建，以其雄伟的彩色玻璃及扇形的天花板闻名，因窗户多而得名“西方明灯”。 进入教堂，扇形天花似曾相识十分漂亮。彩色玻璃窗及扇形天花。真可以称得上雄伟的彩色玻璃窗。

巴斯修道院的工作人员给了我一份日文的说明书，莫名其妙的。巴斯这座城市似乎不太喜欢中国人，住过的两晚民宿在踏上英国本土的一个多月前就让在网上办理入住登记，上传护照等，到了入住前一天还让线上登记一次。另外，体验了一把当地公交，我们一行三人回住处时，我们明明记住了要下车的站名，司机硬是让我们提前两站下车，由于当时天黑也就没理会。基于上述原因，对巴斯印象不是很好。

The Abbey Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in bath, abbreviated as Abbey of bath, is light yellow in appearance. It was built in a typical bath stone with a cross shaped plane. It was first built in the 7th century A.D. and experienced reconstruction, fire and repair. Finally, in the 16th century, it was built into the current Gothic architecture, which can hold 1200 people. It is very grand.

规模之大在全英是排得上号的，但不知为何在观感度上的冲击力似乎比坎特伯雷的教堂淡了一些（也许是错过了当日最后一场tour，因而木有能了解足够多的幕后故事）最大的感动来自于教堂里最近设立的为乌克兰民众祈愿的墙。写完自己手头这份放上去时看到了另一些中文字，便也心头一热。20220426

巴斯修道院，最早始建于公元7世纪的盎格鲁撒克逊时代。1499年巴斯大主教重建了教堂。1539年英王路易八世下令关闭教堂。1574年女王伊丽莎白下令修复教堂。1611年教堂修复完成，但局部的改扩建一直持续到19世纪。 教堂为比较典型的哥特式风格，用大立柱为教堂主要结构支撑，飞扶壁辅助，侧墙不承重，修建大幅玻璃窗，使教堂内的光线比较充足。整个教堂显得比较轻盈，不笨重，建筑材料为巴斯石，为所谓“蜂蜜金”色。 教堂的国王爱德华窗（King Edgar Window）用玻璃彩画描述了爱德华加冕国王的情形。教堂内侧墙内有不少名人的墓地。

The magnificent Gothic architecture, just beside the Roman Baths, was free to visit, and the square was also very busy. We took a picture and sighed.
