The original name of the broken bridge is St. beneze bridge, which is a famous bridge in the middle ages. The bridge was originally built from 1171 to 1185, crossing the Rhone River and serving as a link between Avignon and the new town of Avignon on the left bank. The original length is about 900 meters, but due to frequent flood attacks, the risk coefficient is increasing. Finally, after the great flood in 1668, most of the bridge was destroyed and finally no longer used. Since then it has been abandoned and no one has tried to fix it. The remaining arches have been collapsed or demolished in succession. Only four of the original 22 arches have survived today, becoming today's "broken bridge". There is an exhibition of "bridge history" at the entrance of the bridge, which introduces the bridges listed in the world cultural heritage around the world; there is also an exhibition on 3D restoration of broken bridges.
